Simpson Gallagher Gallery Celebrates 30 Years!
As I reflect upon the past thirty years, I am astounded by how quickly the time has gone. I am amazed how much has changed in my life and in the world.
When we opened the gallery in 1994, my husband John and I were 30 somethings coming from New York City to Cody, Wyoming committed to making a life for ourselves in my hometown. It proved to be a wise decision.
We have enjoyed a life filled with richness of family and friends and a balance of cultural experiences and outdoor fun. We raised two children, and we made a home for ourselves. I have been able to do what I love in a place that I love.
From the start in "that little gallery just off main street" to our move to one of Cody's oldest buildings on Sheridan Avenue, it has been about the artists whose work graces our walls and pedestals. We have had the honor of exhibiting some of America's leading representational artists, a tradition that continues to this day. Of the 28 living artists whose work we represent, 13 have been with us for the entire 30 years, and 21 for over 20 years. That is a long run of loyalty! Sadly though, several of our artist friends who we showed from the beginning have passed away. But their legacy, passion and influence will always be with us.
The artists of Simpson Gallagher Gallery are a family. And another part of that family is the many accomplished, thoughtful, and dedicated people who have sat behind the front desk greeting visitors, working with our artists, and helping to keep me organized!
Equally important in our story are the many clients, collectors and friends who have admired and supported our wonderful artists over the years. Art needs the interaction between the artist and the viewer. It is this connection that inspires the viewer to bring a painting, an etching or a sculpture into their homes and lives. We feel incredibly lucky to have found so many good homes for the wonderful art we have shown and sold over the years.
It is a profound privilege and pleasure to be able to celebrate 30 years in business. Thank you for being a part of our success!
