Carolyn Anderson

Carolyn Anderson was born and raised in the Chicago area. She attended school at Illinois State University, participated in the Vista program (Volunteers in Service to America) and was assigned to work on a reservation in Montana. She later returned to Montana and now lives near Havre, in north-central Montana. She began her professional career as a pastelist, taking part in the Northwest's larger shows, such as the C.M. Russell Auction. Currently working primarily in oils, she is the recipient of numerous awards, including Best of Show in both 1999 and 2000 at the C.M. Russell Show. She is a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group, and the recipient of two Merit Awards. Her work has been featured in several national publications, including Southwest Art, Art of the West, and most recently, The Big Sky Journal. Anderson is also in demand as a workshop instructor, having taught for Walt Disney Imagineering, the Frye Museum, Scottsdale Artists School, and the Fechin School.
